Sociably ("we", "us", "our") operates the personal lending tracker available at thesociably.com. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information you provide directly:

• Account data — your name, email address, and password when you sign up.
• Profile data — optional display name, username, and city.
• Item data — names, photos, descriptions, and estimated values of items you catalog.
• Loan data — borrower names, emails, loan amounts, return dates, conditions, and notes.
• Contact data — names and emails of people you lend to.
• Messages — if you contact us via our contact form.

Information collected automatically:

• Usage data — pages visited, features used, timestamps. We use this to improve the Service.
• Device data — browser type, operating system, IP address (used for security and abuse prevention, not for tracking).

We do not use advertising trackers, sell your data, or build behavioral profiles for marketing purposes.

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the Service (account management, loan tracking, notifications)
• Send transactional emails — loan invite notifications, email confirmations, overdue reminders
• Respond to your support requests
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Improve and develop new features (using aggregated, anonymized data)
• Comply with legal obligations

We will never use your data or your contacts' data for advertising or unsolicited marketing.

When you add a contact's email to send a loan invite, that email is used solely to send the specific invite notification on your behalf. We store the email to link the contact to their Sociably account if they sign up.

Contacts who receive an invite can create an account or ignore the email. We do not send marketing emails to people who haven't created an account.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers — we use Supabase (database and authentication) and Vercel (hosting). Both are SOC 2 Type II certified. They process data only as necessary to provide their services.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest
• Row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own data
• Secure authentication via Supabase Auth

No system is completely secure. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at hello@thesociably.com.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes.

Loan records associated with other users (e.g., a contact's view of a loan) may be retained in anonymized or dissociated form.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
• Portability — receive your data in a portable format
• Objection — object to certain types of processing

Sociably uses only essential cookies required to maintain your authenticated session. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party tracking pixels.

Sociably is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or via an in-app notice at least 7 days before the changes take effect. The "Effective date" at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
